OK, I’ll only comment on the basics here. First of all, Notepad only allows one font per page (that means same font, same size), while Word allows you to use as many fonts as you wish on one single page. Also, in Word you can colour your font and use features such as tables and autoshapes.
Generally, Notepad is only a simple text pallette, allowing you to write stuff in a basic way. You can do a lot of things with it, though, from simply wrting a random text to creating a subtitle for a movie, or even create windows message boxes, etc. Word is meant to be a rich text editor, which allows you to create elaborate documents, using a desired format.
