What are some pull and push factors of why someone would want to immigrate from the Philippines to Canada?
I am doing a project for geography in which i have to make up an immigrant that is immigrating to Canada from the Philippines. I need 6 push factors and 6 pull factors. Help please?
Reasons for leaving the Philippines….
1. Incredible poverty.
2. High unemployment (you need a college degree to work at McDonalds for less than 50 cents per hour.).
3. Getting a good job overseas allows the person to send money home to help the family.
4. Political instability. Their politics are worse than ours, and that’s saying something.
5. Corruption. Everybody is on the take. Nothing happens without paying a little bribe to grease the system.
6. A better future. They’re like us, they want their kids to have a better future. They understand that can’t happen in the Philippines because, there, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know that means everything.
