Whats a good pole for beginners learning to pole dance?
I’m looking for a good pole, preferably not so expensive but I’m assuming you pay for what you get, but any tips etc are very welcome! Thanks x
You’re 100% correct! You get what you pay for. Unfortunately poles that you find in adult and novelty shops like spencers are flimsy and not worth the money. The same goes for poles that are more widely used like peekaboo and the carmen electra pole. They are more popular but they are still not meant to support your body weight. If you look closely on their website you’ll see a tiny disclaimer that states that it is for entertainment only and not meant to be used with tricks and spins.
The only poles out there that are really any good are the x-pole and the lil mynx pole. I danced on a mynx in the studio I studied at but she sold the removable x-pole because she didn’t like the mynx removable poles. They will run you in the neighborhood of $300 but they are completely worth the investment.
And DON’T buy your pole from craigslist or ebay because there are a lot of people out there who are trying to sell fake poles. One of my students found an x-pole on ebay for half the regular cost. When she got it she realized she didn’t get any tools so I lent her mine. They didn’t fit. We called the x-pole company and they asked us a few questions about the make of the pole and made the revelation that it was not an authentic x-pole. It was unsafe and not worth half the money she had paid for it.
