I want to know what is the best way, even if it is not the easiest. My husband is deployed, and I have three small children. I have access to a treadmill, but not weight training. I have some work out videos at home with a balance ball, and dumb bells. How much should I be doing? I have to lose 50 pounds to be in the healthy weight range for my heighth.

Before you all yell at me for not taking my dog out in the rain I have been taking them out but it is not safe to take them out in a thunderstorm and more power to you if you want to but I don't. I am going to take them out and play before the lightning starts and walk them on the treadmill a bit. I also played with them a ton yesterday it was so pretty our puppy got two walks loads of obedience training and our old dog (who would prefer his frisbee over walks) played tons of frisbee. We played in the yard or walked off and on for at least six hours yesterday we all had loads of fun So how can I make my second day in a row off just as fun once the lightning starts. Well guess that is it thanks for the help everyone seems so quick to answer questions that start with please help or I was thinking about breeding that is alright I found a website with a few ideas and have other places to ask

I am wanting to loose some weight for the summer. I use to run XC, play soccer and dance so i understand the value of a good work out. I have though allowed myself to get really out of shape and i want to get back in and try to loose so weight and tone up some. I don't know where to even start. I have some things that i can use like a treadmill and such but i don't even know where to start. I loved running but i can't seem to put a good running routine together I also enjoy swimming a lot but i don't think that i loose any weight when i am in swimming routines i think if i just had someone to tell me what to do i would do it. i just don't know what to do. can anyone help?

Hey, I dont think I'm over weight or anything but I would like to lose some EXTRA pounds that I have on me. I think I have a pretty legit program/diet that I'm going to work on. Can you tell me if this is good? Current weight- 144 at 5'5-5'6 ( not sure) Goal weight- 120 I'm thinking of running on the treadmill for about 30-40 minutes one day and then the other day riding a bike through the park at a high speed for an hour or so. I'm also going to keep my calorie intake to about 1200-1300. Does this sound good?

ok so i just got a treadmill, if i run at least a mile on it at least 5 or 6 days a week, and one day i have soccer games how much weight will i lose a week? i also dont eat horribly, i take calories into consideration and mostly everything i eat is some sort of diet, no soda, fruit .. how much weight will i lose if i do it by about mid, end of july, beginnning of august?! thank youuu :)

last night, i turned on the treadmill and the power went out to the livingroom. there were no breakers flipped. we've tested the outlets in the living room and this is what we find: there is power to the hot wire (black) but not to the neutral. what would be causing this?? thanks! we used a voltage tester to arrive at the conclusion that there is power to the hot wire, but no current to the neutral. the hot wire is hot on all of the 5 outlets. there is no power to any of the neutral wires.

I'm trying to lose some winter weight fast and build some muscle and since i cant go to the gym twice a day I was wondering if it's healthy to workout for 3 or 4 hours a day coz I remember reading somewhere that u shouldnt workout for over 40 minutes at one time because ur body doesnt respond to exercise anymore. Is that true? I dont do weights mainly the treadmill, the elliptical and the bike. thx for ur answers u guys! dont worry i'm not buying anything and i reported the first spam answer.

JW. My dad has high BP, and he only walks (treadmill). Says it's all he's medically allowed to do. But he never increases the intesity fo his workout, he's been doing the same damn thing for a month now. I understand his time constrictions, but he's making no effort. He could possibly step up the speed a bit? or is that bad? He hasn't had a checkup since he started regular workouts. My mom and I tried to get him into yoga and pilates, but he's just not interested... Any direction in which we should go? or is his desicion up till now medically correct? Cheers @ sue: sorry if I pissed you off. lol. I realise it's his body, and he can do what he wants. But its mainly the fact taht he doesn't admit it. I KNOW, that he's a quitter. Im just trying to push him. Any personal trainer would do the same... probably more agressively. I do it more calmly, yet he doesnt listen. How is it that when parents push their unwilling kids to do better its for their own good... but when its in reverse its a bad thing?

Open Question: What is it about exercize that can induce asthma so strongly?
Everytime I seem to even WALK at a track our outdoors somewhere, sometimes even at home on my treadmill, I seem to get asthma in less than 10 minutes, and it ends up being pretty bad, as opposed to one just coming on when I'm NOT exercizing. What is it about exercize that induces asthma, and oftentimes a bit more strong than if you weren't exercizing, and is there anything that can prevent this? My inhalers don't really work at preventing! By the way, I can't seem to RUN for the life of me. Everytime I even begin to run, my body feels to heavy, and I can't, and that's ALL THE TIME< not just during asthma. would that mean that I need help immediately? that my asthma is constant and not controlled? I really need advice here, thanks!

I do this almost EVERY time. I'll have a weekend of eating "bad" food then I swear to GOD that I'm hitting my treadmill and Pilates on Monday and going to stick to it. But I NEVER do! How do you hold yourself to that promise? It is sooooo HARD!!! I am NOT fat, 5 ft, 114lb. but I could stand to be a little fimer! Any help or advice?

He's the one who drives me to my gym everyday, as well as picks me up. Im a fairly fit guy, he's a fat guy with high BP. He works out every morning for 30 mins doing a walk on the treadmill. I have an intense 45 min workout, but i understand the age difference. What I dont understand is that he feels it appropriate to give me health advice. 'What did you do today son' 'I jogged 2.5 km on the treadmill' 'But how many cals did you burn?' '95... why?' 'But youre supposed to burn 150 cals. What are you doing?!' Piss off... I know more than you about health. Theres no MUST. I burn 95 cals on the treadmill, then burn another 80 on the training bike. But he doesn't let me finish that. He gives me bullshit advice from the start. Thats just one example. Ive brushed it off before nicely. No insulting him or his weight. But its now getting on my nerves. Only a fool disregards good advice, but I'm not willing to accept advice from someone who has prove he can't follow it do you think im being irrational? Another thing is, he doesn't WANT to listen to my advice. If i correct some fact he gave me or explain soemthing... he switches off. Ive hinted i dont appreciate this exchange... but he doesn't get it. I WILL be openly harsh soon. but he doesn't get the signs. a discussion id one thing... but giving (potentially bad) advice and not taking it is another.

I use my exercise bike daily and i go steady pace for about 20 mins but with a treadmill I walk/jog an burn more calories but my legs dont hurt much atol after or burn like they do with the bike so is the bike best for toning legs? and treadmill best for losing fat? If my legs feel slightly stiff after everytime I peddle is this ok? and will tone up fast?

This has been going on for about 1 month, come and go low grade fever, excessive mouth dryness and soarness in my throat, extreme weakness all over the body, and chest pain. I did some blood test, X-ray, treadmill, lung scan, etc, everything was normal. But I keep getting worse, please help!! Is it a kind of autoimmune disorder or what?

IS there anyone here who has run on a treadmill 10 MPH like for 6 minutes straight? I was going 9.5 yesterday and then 10MPH and it felt pretty darn hard..On a course I run the mile just under 6 minutes(5:55) So my other question is..Why is it harder on treadmill or am I just not used to it yet?

i don't know what i did to my knee but an old acl injury seems to be cropping up. there is swelling which i have been icing several times a day. it feels sore and unstable. but i feel i still need to do mild exercise. which is better (less impact) on an injured knee: ellipictical trainer, treadmill, or recumbent bike? thanks

Being one of those guys who pulled THEMSELVES out of the fat-pile and made themselves fit, I cannot stand people who are too lazy to do it themselves. I understand what you're telling me though, and I will try. But one things for sure, I know more than him about health, even if not specifically his, and he is WIMPING OUT. just being lazy. I even offered to mentor him, workout with him etc. We both have expensive gym memberships, and it peeves me to see him not use it. Anything and everyting I've tried has not been successful. I might want him to live until my adulthood, but I'm not willing to waste my childhood for that.
